Riddle Point Rowing Club Dock In Ritual
by LaDonna
Lake Lemon is free of ice, daffodils begin to bloom and members of the Riddle Point Rowing Club gather to participate in our annual springtime ritual we like to call "dock in." This rite of passage is much more than putting the dock back in the water. Sculls are re-assembled after a long-winter's storage, debris is collected from the shore, oars and cleaned and inspected, the grounds are mowed and raked, and several inches of chipped wood is placed beneath the tree swing to protect the knees of the children who have yet to fall in love with sculling. Dock in occurs every spring and takes several motivated members to prepare for the very first row of the season. It is not an easy process but one that is eagerly awaited and, with most club members pitching in, is accomplished in just a few short hours. Below are several pictures of the process it takes to be up and running for the season. Thank you to everyone who showed up and helped with our first group effort!   READ THE COMPLETE ARTICLE (.pdf)
